These stoneware “clay tablets” were made to mimic ancient Sumerian language communication stones of about 3,000 B.C. One of the stones pictured however (lower left frame) is imprinted with hieroglyphics and petroglyphics. I was not satisfied with their finish so I buried them next to the Mendocino Art Center, to be unearthed in one year when I return there in October, 2016. They will then be further developed.
Follow -up: I did uncover them on my return in 2016 but was not satisfied with their look. I guess they needed a few more thousand years in the earth. I then re-fired them and re-glazed them but all to no avail. Only one was good, and I gave it to Bob Spies who lives in Mendocino.
